CASA in Action Releases Endorsements for Virginia Senate Elections in Districts 10 and 16

Virginia 2019 Endorsements:

Falls Church, VA - CASA in Action, the region’s largest immigrant rights electoral organization, is excited to release the endorsements of two pro-immigrant candidates for the Virginia Senate primary elections to occur on June 11, 2019.

CASA in Action Endorsements in the Virginia Senate:

Re-Elect Senator Rosalyn Dance, Virginia Senate District 16

Senator Rosalyn Dance has been a champion for immigrants and low-income communities. Her strong advocacy to protect the rights of immigrants, giving access to quality health care to all, and increasing the minimum wage are among the issues that make CASA in Action extremely proud of endorsing her.

Dr. Ghazala Hashmi, Virginia Senate District 10

An educator and social justice advocate, Ghazala immigrated to the U.S. from India 50 years ago. She understands the importance of community building and fostering dialogue to bridge cultural and socioeconomic divisions. If elected, Ghazala Hashmi would be the first Muslim-American woman to serve in the Virginia State Senate.

“Senator Dance and Dr. Hashmi are two strong community advocates for the Virginia Senate who believe in immigrant justice, great schools for all and the living wage for all,” stated Luis Aguilar, Virginia Director for CASA in Action. “Having them in the Senate will reinforce our values for a welcoming and inclusive community for all.”
